Silverstone

Silverstone is the infamous racing circuit located in East Midlands, England. It’s the home of British racing and features annually in the Formula 1 calendar.

Silverstone dates back to the 1940’s where, what used to be an RAF base was turned into a race track. The very first British Grand Prix took place in 1948 and was hugely popular with thousands flocking to see the cars. Ever since, the race track has expanded in size and popularity. It’s now most well-known for its annual Formula 1 Lenovo British Grand Prix appearance in July, where the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher and Aryton Senna have raced.

The Silverstone circuit offers a capacity of 150,000, although many gather around the site to try and catch a glimpse of the racing stars. There are many campsites, hotels and there is pop-up accommodation during the week of Formula 1 in Silverstone so many can attend and feel the racing atmosphere. In addition to the practical accommodation, the circuit is jam-packed with stages, an entertainment village, bars and restaurants and a giant ferris wheel to provide a festival feeling for the whole weekend.

Silverstone is a working circuit, 365 days of the year. There are numerous car fairs and driving championships that take place throughout the year. You can visit the Silverstone interactive museum, drive around the circuit, book a corporate events day or attend the F1 race itself. Tickets can easily be purchased online.
