  • Ask and answer these questions at random to review. Error correct any mistakes.

Slides 5-19

  • Start with the definition of a subject and review all 7 subjects and pronunciation.
  • Review the “you” in both singular and plural forms – it is the same.
  • Review the “it” is for neutral objects in English – explain that there is no masculine/feminine of objects.

  • Ask students to fill in the verb to be (some may know this) and check pronunciation
  • Slides 22-28: Fill in the gaps using the verb to be (class activity – select students at random) 

Slides 29-43

  • Explain what a contraction is (clap two hands together to visually show this)
  • Review all contractions and focus on correct pronunciation
  • Slides 37-43: convert long forms into short forms of the verb to be (class activity – select students at random)

  • Before showing slide 44, ask what the negative form is then show the slide and review pronunciation
  • Slides 45 and 46: Students read examples
